Interactive WWW Page for Application of Shape Memory Alloys

M. Wusterhausen

20 December, 2003

This project was developed within the scope of my student research project at the Technical University Berlin, Institute of Thermodynamics. Knowledge about SMA-behaviour, computernetwork and electronic controlling forms the basis for this work. Starting at the end of August, this webpage is a result of approximately 3 month work including the construction of the peripheral electronical and mechanical parts.

Usually not many people get directly in touch with the SMA-technology. We hope to show you the impressive effects with this small application. The controlling software is build with the Java programming-language, providing platform- independence and access from a PC anywhere in the world. Furthermore, we use a Live-Stream-Webcam software to give a real time visualization of the moving application. It's performance is limited by the number of viewing clients and the quality of the internet connection.

Please read our other webpages to understand the theoretical background of SMA.
